SBB je danas zatražio dozvolu za ulazak na tržište fiksne telefonije. Tek da zapišemo datum, pa da vidimo koliko će vremena proteći dok se licenca ne odobri.

The state must carefully weigh the impact of granting new landline telephony licenses on Telekom Srbija before deciding to end the state telecom company’s monopoly in the fixed-line market, Telecommunications and Information Society Minister Aleksandra Smiljanic said yesterday, news agencies reported. Cable TV and Internet operator Serbia Broadband (SBB), which has applied for a license to enter the fixed-line market, could attract prolific landline subscribers, whose bill payments allow Telekom Srbija to finance “the unprofitable activity of providing landline services in rural areas and to users that have very small phone bills,” Smiljanic told a news conference. A solution could be in having all operators contribute part of their revenues into a universal service fund, which would subsidize unprofitable landline operations, Smiljanic said, adding that Serbia will invite bids for landline licenses after it defines minimum requirements for license holders. According to Assistant Telecommunications and Information Society Minister Slobodan Laketa, the licenses will not be issued in 2007, but subscribers “can expect new operators in 2008.” In related news, SBB CEO Dragan Solak said that the company has the capacity to provide landline services to a third of Serbia’s households. SBB has also requested a license from the Telecommunications Agency (RATEL) and the Telecommunications and Information Society Ministry to buy Internet services abroad, Solak said, noting that putting an end to Telekom Srbija’s monopoly in the sector would help reduce retail Internet prices in Serbia by 80% and increase connection speeds"

Evo danas na vestima da će Telekom prvi dobiti pravo da razvija kablovsku fiksnu telefoniju. Onda možda bude i mnogo pre 2001. godine.
